Children's Village

A safe environment

Our Children’s Village, located in the peaceful surroundings of Mkuranga, offers children a loving home.

The Children’s Village officially opened in July 2010, presided over by former President Ali Hassan Mwinyi. Since its inception, the project was twice honored by a visit from the ‘Uhuru Torch' recognizing its contribution to national development.

The Children's Village is designed to provide a family-like atmosphere for every child. It includes family houses, sanitary blocks, classrooms, a small library, a computer room, a central kitchen, an infirmary, and two large open-sided halls where everyone gathers to eat and where children can play when it rains.

Each family home houses up to ten children—typically a mix of girls and boys of different ages—living together with a dedicated caregiver we call "mother." Just like in a traditional family, they share meals, help with chores, support one another and grow together. The mother ensures each child is healthy, attends school, and receives the emotional care and guidance they need to thrive.
