Personal Stories Highlight Growing Need

The need among vulnerable children remains high. Every day, we encounter situations where children lack access to basic needs such as food, guidance, and education. The personal stories of the children we support make this reality clear.

One girl attending Mwongozo Primary School lost her mother and is now cared for by her aunt. Our social worker Ramadhan, who knows her well, says, “She is a well-behaved, gentle, and quiet child. She is not very talkative unless encouraged to speak.” Without the food package she receives, she would often go without meals. Although the family has a home, daily life remains a constant struggle.

Another eleven-year-old girl lives with her elderly and frail grandmother, who earns a small income by collecting plastic bottles for recycling. Due to her grandmother’s poor health, the girl often misses school to care for her.

Another child we support, an eight-year-old boy, now lives with his grandmother after both parents disappeared from his life. After school, he often spends his afternoons on the streets without supervision or guidance with his homework.

Our mamas, including Mama K and Mama Amina, work tirelessly to support these children. They maintain close contact with schools, monitor each child’s development, and check on their well-being during food distributions. Their dedication has a clear and lasting impact.

At the same time, the demand for support continues to grow. With limited resources, we are constantly looking for ways to work more efficiently. We are therefore exploring how to support more children by placing them in fewer schools, allowing our mamas to spend more time on care and guidance.
