Major Road Maintenance Underway to the Children’s Village
Tuesday 25 March 2025
Essential repairs are being carried out on the “Malaika Kids Road,” ensuring safe and reliable access to the Children’s Village - even during the rainy season.
The access road to the Children’s Village is currently undergoing a major upgrade. The so-called “Malaika Kids Road” is vital for reaching the Village, especially during the rainy season when conditions can quickly deteriorate. Since its construction in 2007, the road has served the community well, but years of heavy use and the tropical climate have made periodic maintenance essential.
This time, a thorough and practical approach has been chosen. The asphalt is being mixed and applied directly on-site - a cost-efficient method that allows targeted repairs without having to dig up the entire road.
Using simple but effective tools, the asphalt mixture is prepared locally and compacted with a roller into a solid, durable surface. The work is being carried out by experienced local workers familiar with this type of road maintenance.
Thanks to their efforts, the Children’s Village will remain safely accessible throughout the year. This maintenance not only preserves the road’s function but also protects the long-term value of the original infrastructure investment.
