The curriculum follows a structure similar to that of UK schools, but there is also room for innovation. A recent addition is a weekly Mandarin class - a reflection of the growing Chinese presence in Tanzania.
However, not every child can attend Ujenzi. Sometimes we welcome older children who have never been to school and are unable to read or write. These children first attend Mkuranga Primary School, a government-run institution with a strong special education programme. There, they receive targeted support until they can join mainstream classes. Currently, ten of our children are enrolled at Mkuranga Primary, making steady progress toward literacy and numeracy.
