This year, we celebrate a meaningful milestone: 15 years of the Children’s Village. What began as an important step in the development of Malaika Kids has grown into a safe and stable home for many children.
The origins of Malaika Kids date back to the 1990s, when Najma Manji took in six abandoned children and welcomed them into her own home. This act of care later led to the establishment of the Reception Home. As the need for long-term and stable care grew, the Children’s Village was created — a place where children can not only be cared for but truly grow up.
Since opening 15 years ago, the Children’s Village has had a profound impact. Today, Malaika Kids supports more than 230 children, both within the community and in the Children’s Village and Reception Home. The Children’s Village plays a central role as a long-term home for children in need.
