A big thank to you to all our supporters who donated to our Christmas appeal this year – and helped us raise a whopping £30K
Our original target for the annual Christmas Appeal was for donors to match the £11,000 that our trustees pledged. That would have raised £22,000. But our supporters went beyond that target to £14k and our trustees have matched that too. We have still to count all the gift aid applicable, but we know that the appeal has now raised in total more than £30,000!
This money will help us ensure children in our care have a safe and supported upbringing.
It has already helped some of the children at the Children’s Village enjoy a small library – they are keen on their reading, while it has helped others live with their wider families, or get the schoolbooks they need to study through our Relatives Support Programme. This funding has also helped us buy food to feed the children at both the village and reception home. At Malaika Kids ugali is a particular favourite. Ugali looks like mashed potato and is usually accompanied by beans.
Thank you for all your help in 2018 and have a very Merry Christmas from Malaika Kids.
