Badru Mahumud is now 16 years old. In January, he began his third year at Ujenzi Secondary School. We were fortunate to be with him when his most recent set of exam results came in. At first he is unsure, then he breaks out into an enormous smile when he realizes he has been awarded a Distinction and has come top in his class (the second of four streams).
Assuming he continues to study hard, Badru is certainly capable of finishing four years at Ujenzi and doing A Level equivalent studies at the next school (St Matthew’s). A very high proportion of St Matthew’s students go on to college, greatly increasing their chance of getting on in the world. Ujenzi costs £800 per annum per child and St Matthew’s £900.
